The hardest of the bowed strings to begin and the most rewarding to commit to. Our violin lessons focus patiently on tone, intonation and bow control before pushing repertoire. Students build to recital-ready pieces and may join the academy’s small ensemble work.
No instrument asks more of a beginner than the violin — and few reward commitment so completely. There are no frets and no keys: the player’s ear and hands make every note. That is why our violin teaching is patient by design, putting tone, intonation and bow control ahead of racing through repertoire.
We start violinists from age five on appropriately sized instruments, and we welcome adult beginners. The early months are spent on the things that decide everything later — how the bow meets the string, how the left hand finds a note and knows it is right. From there students build to recital-ready pieces and may join the academy’s small ensemble work.
Violin lessons are one-to-one and weekly. Your teacher works at the pace your hands and ear allow — first the bow hold and open strings, then first pieces, then the long, satisfying work of making the instrument sing. Listening is trained as deliberately as playing.
Begin with a trial lesson at Pandan Indah or Damai Perdana. You will hold the instrument, draw your first notes, and meet the teacher who would take you on — and if a child needs a smaller violin, the teacher will advise on sizing before you buy anything.
A violin student’s first teacher shapes their sound for years — which is why we take the match between student and teacher seriously from the trial lesson onward.
The faculty behind every program is the same: 20 teachers, every one holding at minimum a music degree, several with Master’s qualifications — led by founder Kuan Jea Yi, a Universiti Malaya music graduate with a Master of Performing Arts, now pursuing her PhD at the same university.

It is demanding — the first months are about tone and control rather than instant tunes, and we are honest about that. But with patient one-to-one teaching the difficulty becomes the reward: violin students earn every step, and the progress sticks.
Children’s violins come in fractional sizes, and the right one depends on arm length, not age alone. Come to the trial lesson first — your teacher will size your child properly and tell you exactly what to look for before you buy or rent anything.
