We start cellists from age seven on appropriately sized instruments, and we welcome adult beginners. Lessons begin with the two things that decide a cellist’s future sound — posture and bow control — and build through scales and reading toward solo repertoire and small ensemble work.
Cello lessons are one-to-one and weekly, taught patiently for an instrument that rewards patience. The early stages are deliberate: how you sit, how the bow crosses the string, how the left hand maps the fingerboard. Repertoire grows out of that foundation rather than being rushed ahead of it.
Begin with a trial lesson at Pandan Indah or Damai Perdana — feel the instrument resonate, draw your first notes, and meet your teacher. For children, the teacher will advise on fractional sizing before you buy or rent anything.
Cello technique is built hands-on — bow arm, posture, intonation — and it needs a teacher watching closely, week after week.
The faculty behind every program is the same: 20 teachers, every one holding at minimum a music degree, several with Master’s qualifications — led by founder Kuan Jea Yi, a Universiti Malaya music graduate with a Master of Performing Arts, now pursuing her PhD at the same university.
